The CalorieKing.com food database holds the nutritional information for over 30,000 American generic and brand name foods (including over 150 fast-food chains).

GI is a measure of the power of foods (or specifically the carbohydrate in a food) to raise blood sugar (glucose) levels after being eaten. Essentially, the higher the GI, the more likely your body is to store the food as fat. This database is run by Sydney University, so it includes quite a few NZ brands.
