One of the first topics we ever posted on this site was about myostatin, and ever since then I've been fascinated by it.

(Myostatin is the gene that puts the brakes on muscle-building. Turn off the gene, and you turn off the brakes. It's the stuff bodybuilding dreams are made of.)

The topic came up again a few days ago, and Liam Hoekstra's name was mentioned. So I did some research. Liam is a lucky bastard kid in the US whose body seems to ignore the myostatin gene. Here's a documentary about him as a 3-year-old, and outlifting kids twice his age. Watch out for the casual one-armed push-up... :shock:

This guy's is gonna be a unit, I hope he gets into something more exciting than swimming. Sprinting? Body Building? MMA 8) Gonna be a very entertaining athlete for sure
