i live in south auckland and ive heard of this gym called 'genetics gym' that is based in manukau i believe it was apparently world gym or something before?

i just wanted to know if anyone is a member or has been a member or even has been inside and had a look there that could possibly give me their opinion about the gym. also a description of how big the place is and the kind of equipment they have there.

ive also heard that it is a hardcore gym that has heaps of powerlifters training there. do they have special equipment such as bands, chains and provide or allow chalk?

I have not been in there but I know that there are some hard core PL's and yes chalk is allowed. Lance Stewart and his crew train there.

Sorry to bump the thread.

Genetics has been where it is for a while, creo has taken over the old world gym wouldnt recommend going there.

Genetics is an awesome gym not state of the art no chains bands or specialty bars but definetley good If your keen on BB/PL some ex champion bbs still training and the pl crew train most nights at 6pm.

Im there m/w/f pm if your keen for a train

I checked the place out when i moved up to manukau and wasnt impressed, old gear which didnt seem to be in very well maintained, very crowded and didnt do it for me at all. Did notice there was a few big guys there throwing a lot of weight around tho, you know the types tho big guys big guts not real impressive in that aspect. The old world gym now creo is where i went, far more impressive gym but definately depends what you train for. If you train as a PL then yeah creo probably isnt the place for you. If your a bodybuilder tho its excellent.

Your body doesnt give s**t what the equipment looks like. Lance and buck are both knowledgable in Pl and BB and can help you out in whatever direction your looking to go.

The list of 20 something rules, no chalk and opera music during the day sorta turned me off of creo and the fact after being there 6 months still couldnt get my name right haha

each too their own i guess

I've been at Genetic for around three years and love it. Lance is awesome and the atmosphere (very friendly) is what keeps me there. I train in the mornings - so less crowded.

Love this gym, awesome selection of equipment to use. Got a lot of time for Buck and Lance and they are always willing to help out the masses. It may not be frilly enough for some but as long as there's a power rack, bench press, pull up bar and lots and lots of dollar coins, Im a happy.
